Centre Philosophy

In partnership with parents/caregivers, the Centre aims to assist each child to grow and develop in age appropriate abilities and independence in order to reach their full potential in an atmosphere of quality care and support.

CBCCCC will create a friendly, safe and nurturing environment where people treat each other with dignity, respect, kindness and good humour.

Children, staff, families and the community are all highly valued and encouraged to actively participate in the Centre’s programs according to their needs, interests, strengths and opportunities.

Child care at the Centre is affirming; it strives at all times to be inclusive and respectful of culture, race, gender and ability. The Centre welcomes and celebrates diversity and recognises each child as a unique and valued individual.

The development of a strong sense of trust, self esteem, self respect, independence and personal and social responsibility is important. The Centre’s holistic program guides children in a positive manner and provides experiences in self discipline, making choices, taking responsibility, achieving independence and socialising with others.

The Centre Program

Our play-based program reflects the Centre’s philosophy and aims to develop the whole child. Within the child care environment we aim to provide learning experiences which challenge the individual child’s curiosity, developing skills and initiative enabling them to make increasing sense of their world and to solve problems of different levels of complexity.

Uninterrupted blocks of time are offered to promote the many opportunities for skill and relationship development. Emerging independence skills make routine times (e.g. hand washing, meal times, story/group times etc.) very important learning experiences. Routines are flexible and integrated into the overall programme and are incorporated as essential learning experiences.

Kindergarten Program

We offer the Universal Access Preschool Program from 9am to 3pm Monday to Friday.

Our Kindergarten Program is administered by an Early Childhood Teacher with a 4-year university qualification (or an approved alternative qualification).

The Kindergarten Program follows the Early Years Learning Framework and is incorporated into the Whole Preschool Program.

Staffing

One of the most important aspects of our Centre is having a warm and caring staff team that understands the needs of children and their families.

CBCCCC aims to provide a supportive, caring work environment with recognition of personal and professional skills and abilities in order to maintain a stable, cohesive staff team.

CBC CCC staff are appointed by the College as CBC employees and undergo strict Police Clearances and referee checks as part of their rigorous selection and appointment process.  Staff have a range of qualifications: Diploma of Teaching - Early Childhood Education, Associate Diploma – Child Care, Diploma of Children’s Services, and Advanced Certificate – Child Care, Bachelor of Early Childhood Education, Registered nurses, Certificate III Children’s Services.

CBCCCC encourages and financially supports the involvement of staff in relevant workshops, seminars and training to extend their skills and knowledge in the evolving child care field.
