Astronomy Course

Astronomy - Stage I

Units One
Leads to SAS Science
Minimum Requirements 16/20 overall for Year 10 Science.
Vision Statement

Students will be expected to reflect on past practices and future opportunities in astronomical experimentation and observation.

The course promotes thinking which is reflective, imaginative, creative and constructively critical.

This is awakened, enriched and refined as students acquire the ability to participate more fully in society, higher and further education as well as training and employment CBC’s Vision Statement states that “..our education seeks to prepare students for an active involvement as members of the human community, bringing a practical knowledge and the application and celebration of Catholic faith and spirituality to bear on the events of life.

Assessment:

The students will receive an assessment each term based on the work of that term. The final mark will comprise of:

• Topic tests 60%.
• Practical work 10%.
• Other (Skills, Oral & Assignments) 10%.
• A major research project 10%.
• Final Theory Examination 10%.
