Since 1963 the primary school classes at CBC have been located on a separate campus which is located on the corner of 324 Wakefield Street and East Terrace.
The Early Learning Centre (R-2) was opened in 1998. The Junior School's other facilities include a computer laboratory, music room, library and art/craft room and Out of School Hours Care Centre. Additions were made to the Junior School in 1987 to provide an entrance from Wakefield Street to the new administration area and library. In 1997 a major building programme created a purpose built Early Learning Centre which catered for Reception to Year 2 students for the first time in the College's history. In addition this programme saw the upgrading of the Junior School playground to include a sheltered way. Full use of parklands facilities is available at recess and lunch lunch time.
The students are escorted across the College's East Terrace pedestrian crossing and then carefully supervised in the adventure play area opposite the school or further into the parklands on the first CBC Oval.
The teachers make a conscious effort to ensure that the transition from Junior to Senior School is a smooth one. A transition program is in place. |

The Senior Campus, at 214 Wakefield Street, has been extended over the years so that it now encompasses the entire city block bounded by Wakefield, Frome, Flinders and Daly Streets. The overhead sports field spans Ifould Street and extends to Flinders Street.
Campus facilities include a large gymnasium, handball court, drama performance areas, lecture theatre, chapel, library, computing rooms, music rooms, science and language laboratories, as well as twenty three classrooms. Extensive use of these facilities is made, out of school hours, by community and school groups.
College organisations, such as the Parents and Friends Association and the School Board, involve the whole College with no distinction between the Junior and Senior Schools.
The Administration computing system is housed in the Senior School Office and financial matters are supervised from there by the College Business Manager.
In 1998 the CBC Sports Centre was completed, the main feature being a 4,500 square metre playing field (the size of eight basketball courts) which is suspended over a car park, swimming pool and fitness centre. This project also saw the complete renovation of the Paul McGuire Library as well as a number of teaching areas and the construction of an astronomy dome. |
