Financial
Information 2007
(back
to quick jump menu)
The Charter of the Christian Brothers recognises its many connections with families, other school communities and Church, civic and global communities. Christian Brothers College will continue to maintain the tradition of offering families a competitive low fee structure for 2007. Key features include:
- Families
who pay annually in advance will receive a 5% discount. This
is equivalent to having money invested at 7% per annum before
tax is deducted.
- Families
who pay a term in advance (payable over the first three terms)
will receive a 3% discount.
- Maintaining
the sibling discounts that start at 5%, for any family with
two or more children attending any other Catholic school,
as well as CBC.
- Discounts
for those who qualify for School Card and assistance for those
who just miss out on school card, or have special circumstances. A brochure
on where to get financial assistance is available upon request from the College.
- The tax-deductible
Building Fund Levy of $450 per family will assist the College in the servicing of its loans.
To keep this low fee structure in place, we depend upon reliable
and prompt payment of fees from all parents, according to the
fee payment option you would have chosen. We look forward to another
happy and successful year in 2007.
Enrolment
Fee (and Enrolment Deposit)
(back
to quick jump menu)
A
non-refundable fee of $20 is payable by families for each new
student enrolment. This fee is payable upon acceptance of the
enrolment offer. For enrolments accepted in the year before
the student starts, a non-refundable deposit of $100 for the
coming year's Tuition Fee is payable. Appropriate variations
to these requirements can be made should there be financial
hardship or other difficulty.

Families in Financial Difficulty
A request for a fee concession because of financial difficulty must be addressed to the Business Manager of the College. On receipt of the completed Application for Reduction in School Fees (2007) form, an assessment will be made as to eligibility and an interview will be arranged to enable a confidential and considerate assessment of the situation. If you require assistance in completing this form, please contact the College and make an appointment with a member of the Finance team in the first two weeks of Term 1, 2007.
Sibling
Discounts
(back
to quick jump menu)
A
reduction in tuition fees is given for each CBC student where
brothers or sisters are enrolled at any Catholic primary or
secondary school in South Australia. In this way all Catholic
schools are regarded as partner schools to CBC.
The discount is applied according to the following scale:
The College
Board asks that each family donate $450 per year to the
Building Fund. A convenient way of making this donation is to
add $150 to your term fees or $50 to the monthly fee's. This donation is fully tax
deductible and is a very important part of CBC's funding of its loans. Donations
are currently used to finance the loans that supported the development of the Stage 2 & 3 projects at the College.
Book
Hire & Book List
(back
to quick jump menu)
The annual
Book Hire fee in the Senior School is $200.00. The
Book Hire Fee represents a non-refundable cost for the hire
of text books. Lost or unreasonably damaged books will be charged
for at replacement cost. It is essential that this fee is paid
before students can be issued with their text books. The fee
is payable in November for the following year. Payments
made after this date may cause delays in the issuing of text
books.
Internet time for students can be purchased if time allocated by the College is exceeded.
Stationery requirements are not included and need to
be purchased independently by students. Enquiries about the
Book Hire Scheme may be made to the Book Room Manager, Mrs Angela
Barry, telephone 8400 4257.
The annual
Book List fee in the Junior School varies according to the choices
of materials by individual students. Parents are contacted,
direct by the Junior School, for these payment arrangements.
Enquiries
regarding the Junior School Book List should be directed to
the Junior School, by calling 8400
4222.
The School Annual of $25 per student is applicable for both the Senior School and Junior School.
Approved School Card families will have their fee accounts credited in 2007 by the value of the School Card payment received by the College.
Camps,
Excursions and Outdoor Education
(back
to quick jump menu)
Camp and excursion costs are included in the all inclusive school fees. Optional camps and excursions costs are billed separately.
Advance
Payment of Tuition Fees
(back
to quick jump menu)
If the entire
annual Tuition fees are paid in full by 18th February,
there is a 5% discount available.
This is in recognition of the assistance advance payments give
to the College's cash flow. This discount is unavailable for
fees already receiving significant discounts, other than Sibling Discounts.
Advance
payments of any amount towards future fees can be accepted at
any time. Each family has a personalised account which would remain in (refundable) credit until such time as future fees
were debited.
Term in Advance
Fees paid term in advance (due by 17th February, 19th May and 18th August) attract a 3% discount. This discount is unavailable for fees already receiving significant discounts, other than Sibling Discounts.
Scholarships
(back
to quick jump menu)
There is
one 5 year 100% scholarship, the Old Collegians' Scholarship.
In addition, there are nine other scholarships granted by the
College: Three each at 75%, 50% and 25% for five years. Application
for these scholarships is open to all Year 8 applicants. A scholarship
exam will be held in conjunction with the Placement Test on
a Saturday in March each year for the following years intake.
Application forms, at no cost, are now available from the Enrolment
Registrar, Mrs Ann Coughlin by calling 8400 4210.
