Vocational Education and Training (VET)

The VET program at CBC has been growing every year since its inception in 1998. From a small base of 3 TAFE courses – Warehousing, Welding and Cookery, the program has expanded to include TAFE, private providers, embedded VET units, VET in SACE and new initiatives in school-based apprenticeships and enterprise education.

All senior students at CBC can access VET either as embedded or stand-alone, and either as full Certificates or part-qualifications. VET is used for employment skills, for TAFE and university accreditation, and personal development. It is also a lot of fun! Students engage in the practical side of their chosen subject as well as the theory.

All VET courses emphasise competency and professionalism and their curriculum content is monitored by industry to ensure up to date skilling is being imparted to VET students whether they are in the workplace, still at school or in tertiary study.

Vocational Education and Training programs aim to provide:

  • Relevant nationally recognised competency based training to students
  • Pathways for students wishing to enter the workforce
  • Opportunities for students to experience an industry without affecting their ability to complete the SACE

CBC offers a varied program across the Vocational Education and Training (VET) area, providing a bridge between school and gaining further qualifications in the tertiary sector or in employment. These VET hours attract credit towards National Industry Training Packages.
